Just in time, spring break arrived. It felt for a bit that I was being held together by a tenuous string - one snip, one pull and I'd unravel. But luckily, things stayed relatively intact and our little tribe headed off to Savannah, Georgia and Jekyll Island for several days. We had the happy company of Grandma & Grandpa Bad, two twenty-year old hooligans at heart. Ellie, the youngest, did a good bit of screaming on the ride there. For a while, I saw white lights and had significant ringing in my ears, akin to a loud fog horn. But we survived. At one delightful hick gas station, Aubrey & Sam discovered an abandoned pup that was starving. Can you hear the pre-teen sobs, nay the hysteria? That was sad, but Dad has a good knack for pointing out the hard knocks of life. Let's just say, my kids had huge saucer eyes once we left that little life lesson. Something about children in Africa and organ abduction. Not exactly - we did do our best to water the little guy and feed him.
Finally, we arrived at Savannah. LOVE Savannah. Such a great vibe. You have the ocean nearby, it has tons of great history, amazing architecture & art galleries, spine-tingling shopping, yummy food, lots of parks, zany people AND is Vespa friendly. That last one is very important. I think I found my nirvana.
So here are some pics from our way too short vaycay:
