So we moved to Atlanta eight years ago, in part, to avoid the drifts of snow from November to March. All in all, we've been pretty successful. My kids wear flip flops at least 8 months out of the year, they consider winter coats a form of torture and they have absolutely no idea what to do in snow. Exhibit A:
Isn't that pathetic? For a good fifteen minutes they just stood there. Our dog got the general idea faster than the kids; she was spinning around, trying to take a giant chomp out of the snow and doing a good job sledding on all fours. Being the smart one (and also the one who has spent many winters up north), I watched the show from inside the house with a cup of hot cocoa and some banana muffins in the oven. Eventually, the idea of snow balls occurred to them but it was not too long before they realized snow is cold. They shot back into the house and grabbed sports socks and gardening gloves. We are a family of innovators.
